Description
This is a lesson idea that came from a member of my site. He is interested in smooth jazz and wanted a lesson on how these artists improvised. I asked him for a song suggestion to do the lesson. He chose “Hypnotic” by Boney James. During the lesson I take you through my approach to learning a song and improvising over it. I play the recording of the song and talk about things that I hear Boney doing and how to apply them to your own playing. I show how to figure out the blues scales to use and what other notes sound great. I also talk a lot about the smooth jazz style and what kind of things you need to listen for and imitate when learning from a recording. (Video & Audio)
