Description
This is lesson 3 on creating some of those crazy modern lines that travel “outside” of the key. You hear these type of lines when you listen to modern sax players such as Michael Brecker or Bob Berg. We work on lines 10-16 in my “Devastating Minor Lines for Jazz and Funk Soloing” in the key of D minor. These lines are written in 16th notes and use a variety of different techniques to weave them in and out of the minor key center. I show you how to use chromatic lines, approach notes, altered scales, 3 tonic lines and different pentatonics to create hip and modern lines. In this lesson, I cover lines 10-16 and teach you the elements used to create them. I demonstrate all the lines to a play along with my tenor saxophone. I also give you a multitude of tips on how to practice them and get the most out of them. To get the most out of this video you will also need my book “Devastating Minor Lines for Jazz and Funk Soloing” (41 Minute Video Lesson)
