Description
This is the 9th lesson in a series on learning how to play the saxophone from the very beginning. This series of lessons will be focused on learning the fundamentals of playing the saxophone and developing good habits. This series will be primarily out of the Essential Elements 2000 Book 1 for alto saxophone so you will need that book to work out of. I take you through page 16-17 in the Essential Elements book and talk about the things to be aware of when practicing these pages. I talk about the new note of “F”, the use of accidentals and natural signs, the use of first and second endings, the art of practicing what you can’t do and starting to improvise over simple rhythms using only one note. I also talk about how to start listening to tuning and what it means to be flat or sharp when tuning up. (Video)
