Description
In this lesson, I show you how to use my “Approach Note Velocity” book on a tune like “Autumn Leaves”.
I show you how to use the lines in the book in the keys of C Major and A Minor over “Autumn Leaves”. Learning these lines and approaches can give the improviser a very modern and cool sound to their solos. Instead of worrying about each chord and change, you can instead play lines in the key center of the tune you are improvising on. By navigating between C Major and A minor you can create some great lines that sound hip and amazing.
This lesson comes with 2 play alongs for “Autumn Leaves” . One is at 120 bpm to practice the lines slower and one is at 160bpm to practice them faster.
To get the most out of this lesson you will need my book “Approach Note Velocity Vol.1 & 2” to get the most out of this lesson as it is not included.
I demonstrate all the lines from the book on the tenor saxophone. (28 Minute Video Lesson)

I downloaded your lesson on using approaches over ‘Autumn Leaves’, and have watched it a couple of times. I think this lesson looks great: previously I have been practicing the combination over static chords, but this lesson has the advantage of applying them to IIVs, and makes you practice major and minor combinations together. I can see myself spending a lot of time with this
