Description
In this lessons I introduce you to the concept of using alternate fingerings. Alternate fingerings are a concept that I first learned about when listening to John Coltrane and later Michael Brecker. I would hear them play a series of notes and do something to the sound that I could not understand. Through the years I have learned that what they were doing was to use alternate fingering to effect the timbre and tone of the notes they were playing. I demonstrate the ones that I use the most and give you specific ways that I might use them. I deal with all the notes from middle C to G and demonstrate everything on the tenor sax.
