A few weeks ago, I received an email from a member of my site with a recording attached to it. The recording was so good that I wanted to share it with all of you. The students name is Christian Nickel and here is the email he sent:
“Hi Steve
Attached one of my new songs where I use some of your concepts and lines from your video lessons (The Style of MichaelBrecker Lessons, Mastering the Dominant Bebop Scale Lessons, Playing Outside-Chromaticism Lessons, Blues Lessons, etc……….). This is to say thanks for all the inspiration. Best,
Christian from Switzerland”
Of course, I was excited to listen to the recording. It’s very rewarding to hear your impact on a student and see what they can do on a recording. This is what Christian wrote about his Neffmusic experience:
“I have studied Steve`s video lessons for 3 years now. They have been a great source of inspiration for me; there is so much to discover. On the recording here I am playing some material from the lessons on “Mastering the Dominant BeBop Scale”, “Playing Outside-Chromaticism” and “the Style of Michael Brecker Lessons.”
I See You Albedo
Here is some information about Christian, his instruments and the recording:
“Christian is an amateur woodwind player and composer living in Basel Switzerland. He has played the sax for 20 years. His setup on the song “I see you Albedo” is an AKAI EWI, a Yanagisawa Baritone sax with a Dukoff mouthpiece. His tenor is a Selmer Super action 80 SII with a Otto Link 7* Kautschuk mouthpiece, Reeds are V16 3,5.”
His band, playing music ranged from Fusion, POP, Minimal to Rock is called the Elgam-Collective. It can be previewed here.
I love hearing from students of my site and especially hearing real world examples of how the video lessons can impact and improve a musician. Thanks to Christian for the encouraging email. Please keep on the journey and keep recording! You sound great! Steve
