This is the new Vandoren V16 A7S. This was my main piece for a year or two when I first started playing alto again about 8 years ago. This mouthpiece has a bright powerful sound to it. Nice big full sound with some edge. It has what I would consider a small chamber. the smaller chambers makes the air shoot through faster and gives it a brighter and louder sound. In this recording it peaks the mic limit a few times because it’s a lot louder. I recorded this with the mic on medium. The Freddie Gregory piece was on low. Vandoren is one of the best and most reliable mouthpiece companies out there. Everytime I play one of their mouthpieces I am blown away by their quality and consistency.

I like this sound, I find it “woody”, but with plenty of power and the brightness is pleasant,

I’d like to compliment your tone on the mouthpiece and thank you for posting this because it helped me get it quite a while back. I just have two questions. My first would be, what do you suggest using to record because your recordings are always clear and high quality. My second question is what is your view on the meyer metal mouthpiece for alto. I’m thinking about getting one.
