I received this piece a few weeks ago from Laurie Waldron in the UK. He’s been making great tenor mouthpieces for awhile and now he’s taking a shot at some alto mouthpieces. These are two pieces that are prototypes that he wanted to get my opinions on. This piece is metal and has bullet shaped baffle in that is similar to a berg or lawton baffle. This mouthpiece has a nice quick response and a sizzle to the sound that is really nice.
When I play this piece I really love it because it has a really tight core to the sound that is beautiful to listen to. I’ve played other high baffle alto pieces over the years but to be honest, I have usually hated them. These two that I’m trying today I really like though. This is the kind of mouthpiece that I know would sound incredible with a mic and a little bit of reverb added. I believe Laurie is in the process of sending me another one of these with a slightly bigger chamber. I’m looking forward to playing that one also.

Hi Steve,
Did you end up selling or keeping this piece. I understand Laurie is no longer making them. To bad, because it sounds great.

I sold this one but I kept another that was the same but a prototype. It is just bare brass but I was afraid to have it plated and it plays great.
